Sheehan: Preston Is A Must-Win Game

11 March 2013

Left-back Alan Sheehan has stated that Notts County can no longer afford to drop points if they are to make the Play-Offs.

The Magpies missed out on another opportunity to close the gap on the top six at the weekend with a 0-0 draw against Crawley.

A win would have seen the seven-point gap closed to just five points - or even three had Notts held onto their lead in last Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient.

On Tuesday night, County will take on Preston North End at Meadow Lane and Sheehan believes that three points are a must.

He told Magpie Player: “If we start winning games I believe we can [make it into the Play-Offs] but we can’t afford to drop any more points.

“I think we need to win seven or eight of the last nine games if we’re going to be realistic.

“There’s good teams in this division and we’re a good team but we’re just missing that cutting edge at the moment.

“You can take one game at a time but Preston is what we’re looking for now and we need to be winning our home games.

“Preston gave us a tough game up there so it’s going to be tough on Tuesday night.”
