Sheehan: Enough Talking, Let’s Win

22 March 2013

Defender Alan Sheehan has called for the Magpies to let their actions speak louder than words ahead of a trip to his former club.

Sheehan joined Notts on a free transfer from the Robins in the summer of 2011 but returns to the County Ground for the first time on Saturday.

The Robins are currently flying high in the npower League 1 table and County head there looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since September, following the victory over Scunthorpe United last weekend.

Sheehan has grown tired of the paper talk, speaking of the need for consistency, and just wants the team to do their talking on the pitch.

He told Magpie Player: “You get sick of reading all this stuff about ‘we need to do this’ and ‘we need to do that’.

“The bottom line is that we need to win games, because, at the end of the day, the three points are all that is important at this time in the season.

“We’re still a bit away but whether we get to the Play-Offs or not is another thing, we can only try and win every game.

“I think we’ll have a good idea of where we’re going to be after the next three games in the next nine or 10 days.

“It’s up to us, because we’re playing three teams that are above us and if we want to get above them we’ve got to beat them.

“Swindon are a very strong and fit squad and we’ve got to go there and give it a go.”
