Notts Saddened By Passing Of Joy Sharpe

8 March 2013

Notts County were deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of lifelong supporter and long-time sponsor Joy Sharpe this week.

Joy, whose company Hillside Medical are one of the club’s key sponsors, passed away at home on Thursday and the news has been met with great sadness amongst all that knew her here at Meadow Lane.

Having first been brought to watch Notts County as a child by her father, Joy remained a fan throughout her life and backed the club commercially through her company, which she built from scratch into an incredibly successful business.

Joy’s support of the club went beyond commercial interests, having been an avid supporter of Lifeline since its creation in 1986 and having contributed money personally to the club during some of its darkest hours in recent years.

A true stalwart of the club, who was always ready to help Notts County in any way she could, Joy’s loss will be felt by everyone at Meadow Lane.

Club Ambassador Les Bradd was deeply saddened by the news, saying: “I first met Joy when I came back to Notts County in 2006 and was lucky enough to work for her at Hillside from 2008. I was delighted to call Joy a close friend and will miss her deeply.”

Retail Manager and Lifeline Co-ordinator Lynn Lawson added: “My husband Pete used to travel with Joy to matches on the supporters club buses throughout her teenage years and she became a close friend of our family.

“We are all devastated by her loss and are shocked and saddened to hear the news, she will be sorely missed by everyone associated with Notts County Football Club.”
