No Sleep, Cramp And A Clean Sheet

24 March 2013

Goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski produced his best performance of the season on Saturday and he did it on the back of a sleepless night.

Bialkowski was almost omitted from the squad that faced Swindon Town, after his three-year-old daughter was rushed into Queen’s Medical Centre on Friday night.

Thankfully, the news from the hospital was positive and the stopper was able to make the trip to the County Ground.

The sleep-deprived number one went on to make a string of outstanding saves to frustrate the hosts on a busy afternoon that was emphasised when he pulled up with cramp late into the game.

“It’s unusual but, to be fair, I had a sleepless night, because I spent the night with her in hospital and she’s okay now fortunately,” he told Magpie Player.

“I spoke with Pilks after the game and said that it was the best game I’ve had for Notts County so I’m really pleased.

“I was kept busy, which was nice, as I’d rather be warm on a day freezing day like that.

“I felt unbeatable, especially in the second half where I made a few saves and I just kept saying ‘try and beat me’, because I was so confident.”

He concluded: “I’m pleased with the result, because it was a tough game, Swindon are a good side so it was a good point for us.”
