Kiwomya Named Permanent Manager

27 March 2013

Chris Kiwomya has been named manager of Notts County on a permanent basis...

Notts County are delighted to announce that Chris Kiwomya has been confirmed as the permanent manager of the club, after putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at Meadow Lane.
Kiwomya, who first joined Notts as development squad manager in February of last year, took over as caretaker manager last month, following the departure of Keith Curle, before being confirmed in the position until the end of the season.
Now, after reviewing all available options, and in line with the Board of Directors’ long-term vision for Notts County, the club have moved to confirm Kiwomya as the permanent manager.
“Chris has showed in the short time that he has been in charge of the first team that he has a great passion for the game, is tireless in his endeavours, communicates extremely well with the Board, sharing our vision, and anyone who has been fortunate enough to speak to him in person will have seen his enthusiasm for every detail of every performance,” explained Chairman Ray Trew.
“When making this appointment we were looking for someone who could realise our long-term vision for the club, someone that we could work with to bring progressive success alongside the development of young, homegrown talent from our successful youth setup.
“Chris is well respected throughout the football community for his ability to develop players, as well as spotting raw talent in youngsters, something that we are confident will help foster stronger working relationships with clubs, particularly at a higher level.
“We are not putting any immediate demands or expectations on Chris, we have said to him that the team is his to mould as he sees fit and to prepare for the new season,” he added.
“That may mean a change of personnel over the summer, but everything will be done with a view towards building for the future, we are not demanding instant results, we see this as the start of a project, one that we are asking our supporters to get behind as we look to grow together as a club.”
As part of his planning for the new role, Kiwomya will make additions to his backroom team in due course.
Supporters will be able to put their questions to Chris Kiwomya at a Fans’ Forum taking place in the Meadow Lane Sports Bar on Wednesday 3 April, with The Board of Directors also due to be in attendance. Admission will be £2 on the night, with all proceeds going to Lifeline and doors open from 6:30pm.
