CK: Enoch's Hard Work Paid Off

21 March 2013

First team manager Chris Kiwomya has paid tribute to striker Enoch Showunmi, after seeing his hard work on the training ground get the rewards it deserved.

Showunmi produced his best performance so far in the black and white stripes against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

The former Tranmere Rovers man received the Man of the Match award and was given a standing ovation by the Meadow Lane support.

Kiwomya hopes that Showunmi can maintain the level of performance delivered against the Iron in the remaining seven matches.

“He was the focal point of everything we did on Saturday,” said Kiwomya.

“Every time the ball went up there it stuck with him, he was a presence and worked extremely hard.

“He was disappointed when I took over the team and he wasn’t in.

“I’ve had two or three conversations and I said if he works hard and does well, he’ll get back in.

“He’s been doing that and in the build up to the game in training, he had been excellent and he carried it on from there.

“The ball goes up there and it sticks, we can get players joined in and he’s an aerial threat.

“He’s a danger around the edge of the box and we just need to try and keep that up.”
