Boucaud: Time To Make Amends

12 March 2013

Midfielder Andre Boucaud feels that the Magpies have underachieved this season but insists that it is not too late to make up for it.

It is now or never for Notts heading into the final nine games of the season, which begins with Tuesday night’s Meadow Lane encounter with Preston North End (7.45pm kick-off).

Seven points separate County from the top six and the team still has to face many of the Play-Off contenders.

Boucaud, who has been a near ever-present throughout 2012.13 after joining the club in the summer, is disappointed with the 10th-placed league position.

However, the former Luton Town man emphasised that the squad is determined to give everything they can to put things right in the remaining fixtures by making up ground on the leading pack.

“I believe we have [underachieved], because the players we’ve got here, playing against the teams we’ve played, I believe that we should be up there,” he told Magpie Player.

“As you could see, at the start of the season, we was up there and that’s not through luck.

“I don’t know what excuse I can give but it hasn’t worked out for us in the previous few months or so.

“I’ll tell you now, none of the players is happy with where we are in the league all, we all know that we should be higher and that’s what we’re working towards.”

He added: “We’re not losing a lot of games, we’re drawing a lot of games, and we’re creating chances but we’re not taking them.

“Maybe, in the next nine games, if we can take our chances, then we can be in there at the end of the season.

“It’s fine lines and we’ve got to be more clinical in front of goal – that’s not just the strikers, that’s everyone.

“If you get a chance you’ve got to take it, because it’s that part of the season now where you might only get half a chance in a game.”
