Striker Malachi Lavelle-Moore feels that he has an opportunity to make a big impact this coming season.
Lavelle-Moore, 18, was handed a one-year professional contract at Meadow Lane after claiming the Youth Team Golden Boot Award with an impressive 19 goals during 2012.13.
Ahead of the summer, a lot of emphasis was placed on bringing in a regular goal-scorer, following a season that saw the Magpies punished for missed opportunities on so many occasions.
Physically blessed and with an evident eye for goal, Lavelle-Moore has been set the goal of making a seamless step up to senior football and he is highly motivated by the challenge that awaits.
He told Magpie Player: “It’s amazing to have signed pro terms, as it’s a dream that I’ve had my whole life and I can’t believe I’ve done it really.
“I missed the first season of my scholarship with a cruciate ligament injury but I did really well last season so I’m really proud.
“For one reason or another I came back with the mentality where I didn’t really care about anything negative, I was just really positive and I just wanted to really get at it and score.
“It’s a huge opportunity for me now and I’ve just got to throw everything at it.”
Continuing with the positive approach, he added: “I’m not aiming to be on the bench or in the squad, I want to start and play and score – be a real player and make an impact.
“The gaffer has said that there’s a massive chance for me.
“I’ve had a few setbacks recently but I’m going to use them to the right effect.”
