Leacock Named Skipper

27 June 2013

First team manager Chris Kiwomya has announced that Dean Leacock will captain Notts County Football Club during 2013.14.

Leacock took on the armband at the back end of last season in the absence of former skipper Neal Bishop.

Bishop has since stood down from the role and departed the club, meaning that the captaincy was up for grabs.

Although there were a number of candidates, Kiwomya felt that Leacock was the man for the job.

Revealing his decision exclusively on Magpie Player, he said: “I made him captain at the end of last season and he did very well.

“He’s a good guy, a good leader of men and he leads by example.

“He’s genuine on the pitch, gives it his best and he was the one that stood out for me.”

Leacock added: “At a club like this with the history and everything like that it’s an honour.

“I’ll be the same person on and off the pitch, just a calm kind of dude.

“I’m happy about the situation and I’m looking forward to it.”
