Notts County Football Club is delighted to announce that highly-rated goalkeeper Fabian Spiess has agreed a new long-term deal.
Spiess, 19, graduated from the Academy in 2012 and went on to make a big impression during his first professional season.
An injury to number one stopper Bartosz Bialkowski against Leyton Orient in January saw the German thrown in at the deep end, but he came through with flying colours and went on to enjoy an impressive run in the side.
Spiess made seven appearances in total during 2012.13, including Man of the Match performances against Orient and Crewe Alexandra.
As a result, first team manager Chris Kiwomya was eager to retain the talented custodian’s services beyond the 2013.14 campaign.
Spiess was delighted to extend his Meadow Lane stay and, in an exclusive interview with Magpie Player, said: “It feels great, it’s been going on for quite a while and I’m really glad that it’s finally done.
“The main thing was the chance to play - I think I’ve got a good chance this year of playing some games.
“Bart [Bialkowski] is here and he’s a good goalkeeper to learn from and Pilks (Kevin Pilkington) is a great coach.
“It’s a big club and I’ve been here a few years now and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
