Notts Capture Haynes Signing

11 July 2013

Notts County are delighted to announce the signing of former Charlton Athletic forward Danny Haynes.

The 25-year-old was at Meadow Lane on Thursday morning to complete a medical and put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal, with an option of a third year, having agreed terms earlier in the week.

Haynes has worked alongside Notts manager Chris Kiwomya previously, having been together at Ipswich Town early in the player’s career, which would go on to see him feature for Millwall, Bristol City, Barnsley and Charlton Athletic, as well as representing England at under-19 level.

The Notts boss has been tracking the signature of his former protégé all summer and had to fend off competition from a number of Championship clubs to secure a deal for Haynes.

Having finally sealed the move for the highly sought after striker, Kiwomya was naturally delighted, saying: “I think everyone was aware that one of our top priorities this summer was adding extra firepower to the squad and I knew very early on that Danny was the man that I wanted to bring in.

“It was far from straightforward, but then it never is when you’re going after good players, they always have other clubs interested in them and that is reassuring in some ways,” he added.

“I know Danny well, having seen him play at the very start of his career and I think he’s the perfect fit for Notts County, he's a player that has the ability to excite the fans and we're looking forward to seeing him in action.”
