Kiwomya Seeing Positive Signs

5 July 2013

First team manager Chris Kiwomya has been encouraged by his team’s start to the pre-season campaign.

The Magpies overcame Palloseura Kemi Kings 3-1 on Thursday evening to get the tour of Finland off to a great start.

An impressive performance in the opening 45 was the highlight of the match, according to Kiwomya.

“I was very pleased with the first half intensity of our players and the fitness was fantastic,” he told Magpie Player.

“We scored a couple of good goals so we really enjoyed it, though we should have scored a few more goals.

“That sounds like something I say a lot but I was very pleased with that workout.”

Notts certainly could have hit the net on more occasions than they did against the Kings.

Skipper Dean Leacock and left-back Alan Sheehan, who combined for the opener, looked especially dangerous from set-pieces.

“You know what you’re going to get with Alan and all you need is for someone with good movement,” Kiwomya continued.

“Deano did that and speaking to him before the game, we had a five-minute chat about how I believe that while I’ve been manager he should have scored more goals.

“He agreed and that’s one of his aims and I though that his first header was fantastic.”
