First team manager Chris Kiwomya has been pleased with the impact that his strike force has made ahead of the 2013.14 campaign.
New recruit Danny Haynes and last season’s Golden Boot winner Yoann Arquin have netted in both of the team’s final two pre-season encounters, against Rayo Vallecano and Ipswich Town.
Kiwomya hopes that the duo can keep up their form when the Sky Bet League 1 kicks off on Friday evening with a televised clash away at Sheffield United.
“They were excellent goals from Danny and Yoann, we’ve got some good players at the club,” Kiwomya told Magpie Player following the 3-3 draw with Ipswich Town.
“If we can get them all gelling and playing the right way, then we’ll do okay this season.
“It’s about getting the whole team right and obviously playing the right team against the right opposition.
“I thought we came out in the second half and did very well, created a lot of chances and we should have scored a lot more goals.”
