Tonight is the night that Magpies’ skipper Dean Leacock will come face-to-face with one of the world’s best strikers, Didier Drogba.
Many would be daunted by the task at hand but not Leacock, who has actually marked the former Chelsea frontman before.
Leacock prevented Drogba from scoring during his Premier League days with Derby County, when the Ivory Coast international made a 20-minute appearance off the bench for the Blues.
The reliable defender is looking forward to the challenge of keeping Drogba quiet at Meadow Lane, as the Magpies continue their preparations for the new season with an exciting clash with European giants Galatasaray.
“I’ve played against him before and we know what he’s about and it will be a real tough game,” Leacock told Magpie Player.
“To be fair, he came on for about 20 minutes and he didn’t really run around too much and I’m hoping for the same again this time.
“They’re a Champions League team so it’s going to be a real tough game but one that we’re all looking forward to.
“We’ve got the fitness built up now, which is the main thing in pre-season.
“Now it gets more nitty-gritty, you don’t want to get beat in these games.
“I look forward to it and as a team we’ll look forward to it, because they’re a fantastic team.
“It will be something that will be a very enjoyable game for the players, fans and Notts County as a whole.”
