Scare Them, Enoch

25 January 2013

Jamal Campbell-Ryce believes that Enoch Showunmi can fire Notts County back into the Play-Off places.

Showunmi bagged his first league goal of 2012.13 in Tuesday night's 1-0 win against Oldham Athletic at Meadow Lane.

The forward has started only four games for Notts this term and has scored twice - the other being a header in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy triumph over Scunthorpe United back in September.

Campbell-Ryce set up the former Tranmere man's most recent finish and has every faith that it can be the first of many, as the Magpies aim to close the gap on sixth placed Bournemouth this weekend away at Leyton Orient.

He told Magpie Player: “I think everyone around the place was absolutely made up for him on Tuesday night.

“He’s had a difficult first half of the season so for him to come in and get a rare start and to get the goal – the winning goal – was absolutely brilliant for him.

“He showed that when he got a chance he’s put it away and we’d love him to get more goals, so hopefully he’ll get a chance to do that.

“I think strikers would rather score 10 or 12 tap-ins, you never really see strikers scoring screamers.

“It’s all about being in the right place at the right time, it doesn’t matter if it’s a tap-in or a 20-yard strike, goals matter at the end of the day.”

He added: “He can be massive for us, you see with his presence and his size, and even though he’s that big, he’s very mobile and can scare defences to death.”
