RIP Reg Killick

2 January 2013

Notts County Football Club has been deeply saddened to learn about the passing of loyal supporter Reg Killick.

Reg, 74, sadly died on New Year’s Day, following a year-long battle with cancer.

A familiar face at Meadow Lane, who will be sorely missed, Reg worked behind the bar in the Magpie Club, which used to be under the old County Road Stand.

However, most will remember him for his work with the club’s junior football teams, which later became Junior Magpies (now Team Magpies).

He ran regular Friday and Monday night football sessions on the club’s old five-a-side courts and also helped to pioneer the ‘Match Mates’ scheme, where junior supporters would take on their opposition counterparts before watching Notts later in the afternoon.

Reg was able to enjoy the victories over Shrewsbury and Portsmouth this season, before losing his fight against cancer.

The club would like to pass on condolences to Reg’s family and friends at this difficult time.
