Hard To Take

14 January 2013

Notts County youth team’s unbeaten run came to an end at the weekend, after a last-gasp goal saw them defeated by their Doncaster Rovers counterparts.

Notts dictated most of the play and created enough openings to win the game.

But, high-flying Rovers punished the young Magpies by stealing all three points with a late winner.

Youth team coach Brett Adams told the official site: “It was a great performance and I can’t fault the lads’ effort, work rate and shape.

“The game showed how far we’ve come, because we totally dominated the game.

To perform like we did against second in the league says a lot about the players and it was a sickening blow to watch Doncaster snatch it away late on.

“This is all part of their learning and they’ve got to realise that the game is not over until the referee’s whistle goes.

“Still, I’m proud of them, even though we’re disappointed with the final result.”
