CK: Cofie Can Excite Fans

8 February 2013

Chris Kiwomya believes that the newest arrival at Meadow Lane can get the Notts County fans off their seats.

Notts’ caretaker boss was given the green light to bring in promising Manchester United frontman John Cofie, 20, on Friday afternoon.

The former England youth international may be handed his full debut on Saturday against Crewe Alexandra, as the Magpies look to show greater cutting edge in the final third – something that was lacking in the midweek loss to Stevenage.

“He’s played a lot of football at Sheffield United and is a very explosive player - very quick,” Kiwomya told the press.

“I think it’s good to get a new face in and he’s come from a prestigious club so he does know football.

“If you’re not scoring enough goals, it can be good for the rest of the players, because they know we’ve got another option

“He gives us another dimension in the final third and he’ll bring some energy to the team.”

He added: “I like forwards to create and score goals, because if you’re not scoring, you’ve got to be creating and giving teams problems.

“We have some good players in and around the box but I thought in the game on Tuesday night, we were a bit short and hopefully he can bring us something there.”

Further coverage will be available in the Nottingham Post, Nottinghamshire Topper and Radio Nottingham's pre-match show.
