Wait Over For The Gaffer

8 December 2013

First team manager Shaun Derry was thrilled to have registered his first three points, after Notts County defeated Gillingham 3-1 at Meadow Lane.

Derry took charge of the Magpies last month along with assistant manager Greg Abbott and the duo have influenced big improvements on the pitch.

On Saturday, Notts were finally rewarded with a win, thanks to a Callum McGregor brace and a Jack Grealish wonder goal.

“I’ve been waiting for that win since I came through the door and I’m delighted that it came under the circumstances it did,” he said.

“The pressure was on us – of course it was – and people are expecting us to win these games.

“I was expecting to win it so thankfully we have done.”

He continued: “I thought we fully deserved the three points but we’ve now got to do now is crack on and take it into next week’s game.

“Then it has to be the week after, the week after and the week after – it can’t just be one day, it has to be every single day and that’s what I’m striving for.

“Nothing changes, we’re still at the bottom of the league but we’re at the bottom of a league now with a team that’s in a different place to when I first came in the building.”
