Notts County’s futsal team have qualified for the Soccer AM Cup as a result of an impressive start to the season, which currently that sees them top of the league.
The newly established tournament will take place in 2014, with eight groups of teams fighting it out for the trophy at the Birmingham Arena.
Football in the Community’s lead futsal coach and manager Ed Burton said: “The boys have progressed well this year, with their results being a reflection of that.
“The second year scholars have carried on their good form from last season and the first years have settled in well.
“The boys need to kick on with their studies after the Christmas break to ensure they continue to progress and play.
“Good results have led to qualification for the Soccer AM Cup and a potential title challenge for the ‘A’ Team, any success all depends on if the boys can maintain the same levels of performance in the second half of the season.”
The Futsal Scholarship is designed for 16 to 18-year-old footballers (male and female) who want to develop and learn new skills through the technical game of futsal, whilst providing an A-Level equivalent education in Sport.
