First team manager Shaun Derry has called for the players outside of starting 11 to use their frustration positively.
Notts County’s performances have dramatically improved in recent weeks following the arrival of the new boss and his assistant Greg Abbott.
This has seen numerous players experience a settled run in the side to others’ disappointment.
Rather than sulk, Derry is eager for those outside of the starting 11 to show exactly why they deserve a shirt, just like striker Ronan Murray earlier this term.
The gaffer believes that the competition will keep the current first choice players on their toes and inspire more positive results.
“We’ve got options and people really that are keen on keeping the shirt,” he said.
“They’ve shown now in the five or six performances that they’re their ability is all there to keep a shirt.
“I want them to go and keep it again, go and put in another performance and keep them 11 shirts that they’ve got, because it’s up to them to keep it."
He continued: “There are five or six lads that will be disappointed, having played one game and not in the next.
“The task is always to show your frustration in a positive way.”
