Notts County will face Liverpool in the second round of this season’s Capital One Cup.
Chris Kiwomya’s men beat Sky Bet League 2 side Fleetwood Town 3-2 here at Meadow Lane on Wednesday evening to earn their place in the draw for the second round and they have been rewarded for that victory with a high-profile fixture against Liverpool.
With every Premier League team not involved in European competition entering the Capital One Cup at this stage, Notts were unseeded for the second round draw, which featured 50 teams in total.
That meant that we were guaranteed a game against Premier League or Championship opposition, but there were few better matches available for Notts than an away tie against Liverpool.
The game is due to take place in the week commencing Monday 26 August and a confirmed date and kick-off time, along with ticket details, will be released here on the club’s official website as soon as they are confirmed.
