This weekend’s in-form visitors will not intimidate Notts County, says midfielder Mark Fotheringham.
Peterborough United are in town on Saturday for the Magpies’ first home Sky Bet League 1 fixture of the 2013.14 campaign (3pm kick-off).
Posh head into the match following an opening day triumph over Swindon Town and a 5-1 thumping of Colchester United in the Capital One Cup.
Notts were unfortunate on day one against another of the division’s favourites, Sheffield United, due to an unfortunate early red card.
But, Chris Kiwomya’s men bounced back with a 3-2 victory over Fleetwood Town on Wednesday night, which leaves the squad and the supporters upbeat ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
Fotheringham and the rest of the squad remain confident about the Magpies’ chances in League 1 this term and he believes they can take maximum points from Darren Ferguson’s men.
“Peterborough are a good side and they’ve got Championship experience there, but I don’t think we should fear any team in this league,” he told Magpie Player.
“It’s a very even playing field and you’ve got to go out there, get on the front foot, put the tackles in, move the ball around and just look to be positive.
“If we do all the things that we’re good at, I’m sure we’ll be alright.
“I watched the Football League Show late last Saturday evening and I’ve seen the favouirites in the league.
“I’m glad they’re favourites because I’m sure we can be in that mix.
“We’ve got to keep believing that we are good enough and we showed that on Friday evening against Sheffield United, even with 10 men.”
Fotheringham is interviewed at length in this weekend’s edition of #themag, which is available around the stadium at a price of £3.
