Midfielder Andre Boucaud feels that the Magpies would have gained promotion last season had they found form at Meadow Lane.
Notts struggled to find consistency on their home patch in 2012.13 but the midfielder sees no reason why the team cannot put it right this term.
Goals from Enoch Showunmi, Danny Haynes and Callum McGregor saw County get off to a winning start to the competitive campaign at Meadow Lane with a 3-2 Capital One Cup triumph over Fleetwood Town.
Boucaud now aims to follow up the win with three points against his former club, Peterborough United.
He told Magpie Player: "If we had made Meadow Lane a fortress last season, we wouldn't be in this league right now.
"It's something that we need to improve on and it started on Wednesday night when we got the result and hopefully we can continue that.
"We need to go and get some points on the board, obviously we're at home and we and we want to show the home fans that we can perform.
"I believe that if we believe we can win as a team, then I think we can do that."
