Saturday’s encounter with Coventry City turned out to be an unforgettable day for striker Tyrell Waite.
The 18-year-old netted his first ever career goal with a rebound header that opened the scoring in the 2-2 draw with the Sky Blues.
Waite has started the Magpies’ last three games and has taken his chance well, having put in a trio of impressive showings.
The former Ilkeston FC youngster, who is out of contract in July, hopes that he has done enough to warrant a place in the County squad after the summer.
“It was a proud moment for myself and I’m happy to have had the chance to play in this first team,” he told Magpie Player.
“To score my first professional goal, I couldn’t have asked for much more from the last game of the season.
“I’ve been thrown in at the deep end because I haven’t really played this season so match fitness has been lacking.
“I’ve been put in for the last three games, I think I’ve done well and I’ve got to thank Chris for that for putting me in.
“Hopefully I’ve done myself justice and hopefully I’ll get a chance play here and play league football next season.”
