Sheehan: Same Old Story

2 April 2013

“Frustrated isn’t the word,” stated defender Alan Sheehan following the 2-1 loss to Yeovil Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

Speaking to the press after the match, Sheehan summed up how much the team was hurt by the defeat.

Based on the balance of play, it was a game that Notts could have taken maximum points from but missed opportunities proved costly once again.

“It was the same story and a frustrating day,” he said.

“Playing football on a mud patch doesn’t really suit our game and teams are coming here and scoring more goals than us – that’s the best way I can put it.

“We lacked that cutting edge, box to box we’re a good team and sometimes we’re pretty to watch but it’s just that killer edge of actually winning the game.

“That’s what it’s all about in this league, because at the end of the season when you look back it doesn’t matter how pretty or how good the performances are, it’s about how many games you win.”

He added: “I’m not making excuses about the pitch because it’s the same for both teams and they’ve ground out three points and that’s the difference.”
