Forward Alan Judge has been named in the Professional Football Association’s Team of the Year for npower League 1.
Judge was earlier named as runner-up in the Football League's Top Ten players list for the division, only beaten to the main award by AFC Bournemouth’s Matt Ritchie.
The Irishman’s inclusion at the PFA Awards on Sunday evening comes on the back of another fine season in the black and white stripes, which saw him score eight goals and claim 11 assists.
The PFA website stated:
Known for his energy and driving runs, as well as his ability to score spectacular long range goals, fans and pundits have nicknamed him ‘The Irish Messi’. Quite an accolade for the marauding midfielder who began his career with Blackburn Rovers, and had loan spells with Plymouth and Notts County before establishing himself at Meadow Lane where last season he scooped both the Players’ Player and Fans’ Player of the Season awards.
