Jamal: Not Our Day

7 April 2013

Winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce felt that the Magpies did not get the rub of the green in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Bournemouth.

A controversial goal conceded and a protested red card for midfielder Andre Boucaud were just two decisions that did not go Notts’ way at Dean Court.

Despite the challenges, County put in a spirited display that arguably warranted more on the day.

Campbell-Ryce feels that the squad can not get too down about the result, due to the circumstances, and they must strive to put it right next weekend against Colchester United at Meadow Lane.

“That’s part and parcel of football, sometimes it goes for you and sometimes it don’t,” he said.

“They got the rub of the green, a handball and, yes, it’s frustrating when you’re out there it’s life, isn’t it?

“With 10 men, the lads showed great character and that’s what we’ve said in the changing room.

“We stuck together and worked hard as a team and in the second half we could have nicked one or two.

“We just needed more of the rub of the green and the bounce of the ball, but it wasn’t meant to be and we lost 3-1.”

He added: “Obviously our form is a little bit disappointing at the moment but we want to put it right and hopefully we can do that at home to Colchester.”
