Defender Hopes To Extend His Stay

26 April 2013

Defender Alan Sheehan hopes that Saturday’s encounter with Coventry City will not be his last in a Notts County shirt.

Sheehan has made 81 appearrances since arriving at Meadow Lane from Swindon Town ahead of the 2011.12 campaign.

The reliable left-back is out of contract at the end of the current campaign but hopes to be offered a new deal when talks over players’ futures are held next week.

Sheehan told Magpie Player: “I’ve spoken to Chris already and we’ve had a chat about next season and everything like that, and things are positive so we’ll see where things go from there.

“Things have been said in the past about me being surprised that the club hasn’t approached me based on the amount of games I’ve played, but we’ve cleared that up.

“I’ve never said at any time that I’d like to leave Notts County, I’m settled here and a lot of my best outside of football live around here."

He added: “I feel personally that in a few games we’ve let the fans down and I do feel that we should be in the top six now.

“We’ve had our good games and had our bad games but we’ve tried our best ultimately and it would be nice to be able to put it right next year.”

Tickets for the Sky Blues clash are available at www.nottscountydirect.co.uk.
