First team manager Chris Kiwomya has already started work on assembling his squad for the new campaign but insists that current players can still work their way into his plans.
With a large number of the current roster out of contract in the summer, Kiwomya is still to 100 per cent decide who will be offered new deals.
The boss is encouraging his squad to prove that they deserve to remain with the club for next season across the next three fixtures.
He also hinted that he may give a number of players that have not featured in recent times a chance to prove their worth, beginning with Colchester United on Saturday at Meadow Lane (3pm kick-off).
“My team building has already started, which has included looking at players and systems,” Kiwomya told the press.
“I’ve got ideas over which players won’t be offered new contracts but there’s three games to go.
“If they come into the team and show commitment and that they can deliver on the pitch it may change my mind.
“It’s a difficult juggling act but I have to go with what I think is right for the football club to move forward and the direction that I want to take it.”
He added: “You have to start thinking for the future and we want to see the young players.
"But, you’ve got to see some experienced players because I can’t see a team of pure youngsters in this division going up.”
