They’ve Earnt It

14 September 2012

Players deserve to be in a position to make history...

Notts County can match a long-standing club record this weekend by claiming a win or draw against Oldham Athletic.

Keith Curle’s side are currently undefeated in the last nine away league fixtures, having started the impressive run in February with a 1-0 win over Rochdale.

The Magpies have since gone on to triumph over Charlton, Leyton Orient, Wycombe, Crewe and Bury, as well as claiming draws at Tranmere, Scunthorpe and Brentford.

By gaining at least a point from Saturday’s npower League 1 clash at Boundary Park, County will equal the streak carried out across the 70.71 and 71.72 campaigns under Jimmy Sirrel.

“They’ve earnt the right and opportunity to go into the record books at Notts County and that’s fantastic,” Curle told Magpie Player.

“Does it add extra pressure? No. Does it add extra pressure being at the top of the league? No.

“The mindset of the players, they know what they’ve got to do and they know their roles and responsibilities within a team framework of how we need to get points.

“The important thing is that our mindset doesn’t change and the things that we try to do in a game.

“It doesn’t matter if we’re playing Oldham, Crewe or Bury, our approach is and our preparation is exactly the same.”
