Striker Move In The Works

30 September 2012

Manager hopes to bolster his attacking options with new signing…

Keith Curle has revealed that he is working on bringing a striker to the club in the near future.

Although tight-lipped over the name of the player, the manager feels that he will add another option to a County attack that is already firing on all cylinders.

Speaking on Magpie Player, he said: “I’ve spoken to one player that would be absolutely excellent for this football club.

“I’m not saying he’s an old-fashioned centre-forward but he plays that role very well.

“He’s got goals in him and he’s got frustrations of where he is at the minute.

“It’s just a case of whether I’m able to do the wheeling and dealing that enables him to come.”

Curle also hopes to finalise a deal with free agent Damion Stewart on Monday.

The defender, who spent the back end of last season on loan at Meadow Lane, has been training with the club in recent weeks, following the mutual termination of his deal with Bristol City.

“Damion’s a typical Jamaican and things get done in his time, he’s not one to rush," said Curle.

“He’s a quality worth waiting for and there’s an issue that we hope can be resolved on Monday morning.”
