Manager delighted with performance after the break...

Keith Curle felt that Notts County were good value for three points on Saturday, especially after a convincing second half performance.

Goals from Yoann Arquin (2) and Alan Judge gave Notts an impressive 3-0 win over Portsmouth at Meadow Lane, lifting the team to second in npower League 1.

Curle believed that the Magpies started slowly but was delighted with how his side adapted to a change of style after the break.

“It was a pleasing afternoon but we were a little bit disjointed in the first half and I take that on board," said Curle on Magpie Player.

“It was always going to come after the magnificent first half performance we had against MK Dons.

“A lot went into that, as well as the 10-man performance against Oldham so I knew it was going to be a vitally important game mentally.

“It was a slow start from us but good belief, good desire, good willingness to do what we practice week in, day in a the training ground.

“Even though we took the lead and I don’t think they caused us too many problems, I didn’t think that we had enough in midfield with the movement of the ball.

“There was a good willingness to have it but we didn’t have enough direction in our play.

“We tried to change it at half time and they simplified their game and I think they did very well.

“The players stuck to their task and the rewards were there.”
