Defender impressed by how teammate has settled into an unfamiliar role...
Dean Leacock has paid tribute to Carl Regan for how he has settled into the left-back role.
Regan, usually a right-back, was called into action against Shrewsbury Town earlier this month, following an injury to Alan Sheehan.
The defender has gone on to perform consistently in clashes with Oldham, MK Dons and Portsmouth, from which the Magpies claimed five points.
Leacock believes that Regan’s displays are an example of the strength in depth at Meadow Lane.
“He’s done really well, he’s not a left-back but obviously he’s played at right-back so he knows what to do there,” said Leacock.
“He’s settled in really well and keeping a clean sheet on Saturday, it’s all good.
“If you’re going to be challenging for the top two you need good cover and we have that everywhere on the pitch.
“You have to keep your standards high in training, the games and everywhere, and that’s what the lads are doing.”
