Boucaud Appeal Rejected

Notts extremely disappointed by decision to reject red card appeal...

Notts County are extremely disappointed to confirm that the club’s appeal against the red card shown to midfielder Andre Boucaud in Saturday’s npower League 1 fixture against Oldham Athletic has been rejected by the Football Association.

It was the club’s feeling, both at the time of the incident and upon review of the match footage, that the challenge by Andre that led to the referee sending him off had actually been a very well executed tackle, showing tremendous control and accuracy.

This had prompted Notts to appeal to the FA on Monday, in the hope of getting the card, and subsequent three-match ban, overturned, supported by the video footage that we submitted alongside the appeal.

Having learnt of the FA’s decision to reject the appeal, the club feel incredibly disheartened that what we saw as a perfectly executed tackle, as much a spectacle in football as a fantastic goal or breathtaking save, should not only be punished by the loss of the player in the game itself, but also for three subsequent matches.

However, the club have little choice but to accept the punishment and prepare for Tuesday night’s game away to MK Dons without the services of Boucaud, who has been impressive since arriving on loan from Luton Town in the summer.
