Best We've Played

Saturday’s second half performance against Portsmouth was the best that the Magpies have performed so far this season, according to Alan Judge.

Notts went into the interval a goal to the good, following Yoann Arquin’s fifth minute finish but there was plenty of room for improvement.

An adjustment to the team’s approach saw them dominate the second period.

County deservedly added two more goals through Judge and Arquin, and climbed to second in npower League 1.

“I would have to say myself that it was the best that we’ve played all season,” said Judge on Magpie Player.

“We would have said MK Dons in the first half there but I thought that we just overran them.

“We’ve shown that we’re contenders but all the lads are enjoying the pressure that’s on us.

“We’ve just got to keep up what we’re doing and hopefully we’ll see the rewards at the end of the season.”

Man of the Match Judge set up both of Arquin’s goals but his own finish was the pick of the bunch.

The Irishman unleashed a stunning 25-yard drive into the corner, which was up there with the finest he has scored in the black and white stripes.

“I’ve been waiting for one, because I don’t think that I’d struck one from 25 yards this year,” he said.

“In the first half, I thought I should have scored but I scuffed it and the keeper saved it, but the second one I just thought I’d hit it – what’s the worst that can happen?

“If you catch one of these balls with the end of your foot, they just move in the air and when I looked up, it was moving everywhere.

“It reminded me of my first one away at Wycombe last year.

“I remember that one was going well outside the post and it came back in, and I’m lucky enough to be able to strike the ball like that.”
