Unforced Errors Cost The Youth Team

Youth team coach on disappointing result for his side...

Notts County youth team were beaten 4-0 in their weekend meeting with Burton Albion youth team.

Notts had hoped to build on an impressive win over Hartlepool United youth team seven days prior.

However, unforced errors by the Magpies allowed Burton to claim all three points on a day that saw four key players miss out through injury and first team call-ups.

Youth team coach Brett Adams told the official site: “We totally dominated for the first 20 minutes but an unfortunate slip gave them the lead.

“We went downhill from there and a couple of mistakes led to them scoring more.

“It was a disappointing performance after last weekend and the lads have to stand up and be counted if they want to have a chance of earning a pro deal.

“When things get tough, we need players to step up.”

Adams is demanding better from his side on Wednesday night, when they travel to Lincoln City in the first round of the FA Youth Cup.

He continued: “We’re looking to bounce back on the biggest stage of the season.

“We want to go far but it’s got to be a lot better, there has to be a willingness and a desire to win.

“If we get that desire and confidence to put on a show I have every belief that we can reach the next round.”
