More To Come From The Academy

16 October 2012

Manager expects more youth team players to make the step up this season...

Keith Curle expects to see more Academy players break into the first team squad this season.

Youth team striker Romello Nangle was given another taster of senior football in the weekend’s 4-0 thumping of Carlisle United.

The 17-year-old played 13 minutes on Saturday and could be included in the squad for Wednesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Sheffield United.

Curle has been impressed with several players within the Academy and he will not hesitate in giving them a chance.

“We’ve got some young emerging talent, like Romello, who got another opportunity on Saturday,” he told Magpie Player.

“I go to watch the youth team and I trust in Mick Leonard and Brett Adams in their opinions and evaluations of where the players are.

“Don’t be surprised if by the end of the season there might be another two or three coming through.

“There’s some good, emerging talent there.”

Keith Curle's pre-JPT press conference will be available on Magpie Player shortly. You can try out the club’s premium video service for FREE this month by clicking here.
