Liddle: Turnaround Is Crucial

28 October 2012

Midfielder desperate to give home fans something to cheer about...

Notts County need to turn around the home form quickly if they are to achieve anything this season, says Gary Liddle.

On Saturday, Notts were beaten for the fourth time at home in the league, this time at the hands of Doncaster Rovers.

Liddle believes that Notts can gain promotion this term but not without rectifying results on home turf.

“It was a disappointing day and it’s becoming all too familiar for us down here at Meadow Lane,” said the midfielder.

“You’re not going to get anything from games if you defend like we are and we didn’t create much up the other end either.

“You don’t know what it’s down to and it’s just the fundamentals, if you like, such as keeping things out, clearing lines, picking people up and tracking runners.

“Especially at home, we’re not doing that at the moment and it’s leading to the opposition getting goals and leading to defeats.

“Home games are meant to be your bread and butter, it’s where you should pick up most of your points and it’s not happening for us at the minute.

“You need to win home games if you’re to do anything in a season and we have aspirations to do well.

“It’s not going to happen if we don’t pick up at Meadow Lane and the sooner we get back to Meadow Lane and put on a performance for the fans, who turned out in numbers again and were terrific, the better.”
