Midfielder happy to net again at Brunton Park and to get back to winning ways…
For Jeff Hughes a visit to Brunton Park usually results in him getting on the scoresheet and that was no different on Saturday.
Hughes netted a fantastic header to open the scoring in a 4-0 triumph over Carlisle United.
The Northern Ireland international was delighted to play his part in gaining three points with another goal on Cumbrian turf.
“It was great play by Judgey on the left and I just had to get my head on it,” he told Magpie Player.
“I got one here last season and I’ve scored a couple up here for Bristol too, so it’s been a good ground for me here.
“I think I’ve got three or four goals here now, it’s a lovely pitch to play on and it’s been working well for me.”
Hughes felt that it was massively important for the Magpies to get a result on Saturday, following back-to-back defeats to Stevenage and Tranmere Rovers.
“We were very disappointed with the last two results so it was a very big game for us,” he continued.
“We came out firing on all cylinders and we felt that we were on top for most of the first half.
“We got our rewards and we took our goals well.”
