Curle's Mentality Won't Change

7 October 2012

Manager disappointed with Rovers loss but remains positive about his side's hopes this year...

Keith Curle says that he will not let back-to-back defeats suck the optimism out of the team.

League leaders Tranmere Rovers took maximum points away from Meadow Lane on Saturday thanks to substitute Joe Thompson’s 21st minute finish.

Notts had been hoping to bounce back from the loss to Stevenage on Tuesday night but things did not go to plan.

Curle is looking for a positive response from his players in the build up to the trip to Carlisle next weekend and expects them to maintain the same level of belief built up by a promising opening to the campaign.

He said: “I think it’s disappointing but this is now when we learn exactly what we have got in the changing room.

“That’s the nature of the business, results change mentality, but mine won’t change.

“I know exactly what the plan is and exactly what we’re trying to achieve at the football club.

“We’re trying to retain good possession of the football and there’s things we need to work on.

“I’m not happy with the goal, because it was too easy a ball into our box and then we didn’t defend with our lives the ball going into our box.

“And that was said to the players, the defining line between success and failure is you’ve got to score goals and defend your goal.”
