Young Magpies defeated by Iron on Saturday...
Notts County youth team have been showing the same fight as the first team but have been unfortunate not to be enjoying the same results.
Notts, who were without three key players in Romello Nangle, Matthew Crust and Jack Golding, were defeated 1-0 by Scunthorpe United at the weekend, courtesy of an early goal.
Youth team coach Brett Adams explained that his side never gave up but insisted that they have to start taking their chances.
He told the official site: “We conceded straight away which took the wind out of our sails really.
“We tried to fight our way back into it but we just didn’t show enough ruthlessness in front of goal.
“It’s still pleasing to see that we continue our efforts to play the right way even when chasing the game but we just didn’t have the luck on the day.
“We hit the post late on but at the end of the day the lads have to make their own luck.
“We look at the first team as an example, they fight until the very last kick, but we’ve got to start punishing teams for their mistakes, just like they do to us.”
He added: “It’s fine lines but we look back at last season and how we turned that around.
“We’ve got to think that this season we’ll do the same because not one team has played us off the park.”
