Skipper’s Biggest Goal

9 November 2012

Captain wants everyone to pull together to get that elusive win at Meadow Lane…

Neal Bishop has plenty of goals this season, though his main aim is to turn around the Magpies’ home form.

Bishop netted his fourth of the season in the midweek win over Colchester United – a superb volley that will go down as a goal of the season contender.

The Weston Homes Community Stadium triumph made it nine points from the most recent three away fixtures.

This weekend, the focus turns to Crawley Town, who sit just one place and one point above Notts in the npower League 1 table.

The skipper has faith in the team to deliver the first three points on home soil since the 3-0 victory over Portsmouth in September.

He told Magpie Player: “It’s nice for me to be getting goals but as long as we get a result on Saturday, I don’t really care who scores.

“Goals are secondary to the performance and to the three points.

“I think it’s got to happen at Meadow Lane sooner rather than later, the basis of any team doing well is to make your own place a fortress.

“We’ve done it backwards this season but if we’re going to get promoted we’ve got to make this place hard to come to.

“It’s a horrible feeling when you come off at the end of the game and the away team’s taken three points off you on your own patch.

“It’s not nice for the supporters or us as players, we feel it as much as them and we want to put that right, starting on Saturday.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to do that, especially after two great away performances again and two clean sheets.”
