Ready For A Big Occasion Tonight

19 November 2012

The Youth Team are in action at Meadow Lane tonight...

Youth Team Coach Brett Adams is confident that his young side can make it three in a row tonight at Meadow Lane as the Youth Team face Grimsby Town in the Midland Youth Cup.

The side have won the past two games against Rotherham United and Lincoln City and will be looking for a win to progress to the next stage of the competition.

Adams told the Official Site: "We need to be looking for a win. It’s a mini-league format with ourselves, Grimsby and Mansfield Town. Only one go through, so we will be focusing on ourselves and treating it as a normal cup game.

"We want to win it in the 90-minutes and if we do all the right things we won’t be too far off.

The fans support this season, especially against Rotherham the other week at Highfields, they were brilliant. I’m not sure if they realise how much they are appreciated when they do come and watch.

"They all saw how well we played and hopefully we can do that week in, week out and more can come down. It would be great if we could have a big crowd tonight. Hopefully we can get a good result and everyone can be proud of it."

Adams is also hoping the squad can build on two great performances under the floodlights and enjoy the experience of playing in a big stadium.

He added: Tonight is a big occasion, these one-off occasion, where the lads can showcase what they can do.

"They’ve done tremendously well in the past two games and I can see no reason why the great performances and form won’t continue.

"We’d love as much support as possible to see the lads. The fans have been great to me and the squad as they’ve been patient and always got behind us.

"I know the lads would love it and be very appreciative if we could get a decent crowd there tonight."

Remember fans can come down and watch the Midland Youth Cup game against Grimsby Town  tonight at Meadow Lane with a 7pm kick-off.

Tickets are available on the turnstiles and cost £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
