Alan Sheehan is desperate to win back his place in the starting line-up, following his return from a hamstring injury.
Sheehan has not started a league match since the start of September – a 3-2 win over Shrewsbury Town that saw the full-back limp off with a hamstring injury.
The Irishman was initially welcomed back off the bench for the home clash with Stevenage but a red card led to a one-game suspension.
A reoccurrence of the hamstring issue has since led to the defender sitting out further matches.
However, he is now raring to go, after watching on from the bench in the weekend’s 1-1 draw with Crawley Town.
Sheehan told Magpie Player: “Maybe last week was a bit soon for me but I’m ready for action this Saturday.
“It’s been really frustrating because I started off the season really well and I was very, very fit and flying.
“It’s been a bit stop, start and I’ve missed a good few weeks now, so I’m really, really, really buzzing to get back and I just can’t wait for it.”
He continued: “I’ve just had to be patient because it’s part of football and if somebody does well, especially in my position, you can’t do anything.
“The injuries have been very, very annoying but I know my time will come to do my bit.”
