Focused On Three Points

16 November 2012

It's sure to be a busy and exciting weekend for the Youth Team...

The Youth Team are fully prepared for a busy weekend with games away at Lincoln City on Saturday and then under the Meadow Lane floodlights against Grimsby Town on Monday night.

Youth Team Coach Brett Adams believes it’s important that the players keep focused and get the three points before they can look forward to a game in the Midland Youth Cup.

He told the Official Site: “The are lads are all absolutely buzzing and have trained hard all week, but we are fully aware how difficult it will be this weekend.

“The important fixture is on Saturday. It’s massively important to keep them focused. We need to continue the good form going.

“We will play our best team that we have physically got in both games. The team this weekend will be unchanged after how well they played against Rotherham.

“And if they play well on Saturday, it will be unchanged again on Monday. This tells the lads if they do well they will keep the shirt and progress.

“Last week’s team only featured three second-years, the rest were first-years and we had two Under 16s. They all played brilliantly against fourth in the league, it was a special performance.

“Hopefully we can build on that and keep the momentum going.

“Two games in three days will be tiring, but they are all very excited to go out there on the pitch on Monday.”

The players travel to Lincoln tomorrow looking to improve on their last performance against them where they lost in the FA Youth Cup.

Adams added: “We are looking to bounceback after that defeat and get a good result against them. We need to right some of the wrongs from that performance.

“We didn’t show anything near our full potential that night, so we need to show them and prove to ourselves that we are a good team. They are coming on and we all hope it will be a very successful and exciting weekend.”

Fans can come down and watch the Midland Youth Cup game on Monday night at Meadow Lane with a 7pm kick-off. Tickets are available on the turnstiles and cost £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
