Jamaican’s impact has been huge, says County’s number six…
Dean Leacock believes that Damion Stewart can play a massive role in stemming the flow of goals conceded at Meadow Lane.
The last two home matches, against AFC Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers, saw the Magpies concede five goals.
However, following the arrival of Damion Stewart, Notts have gone on to keep back-to-back clean sheets in 2-0 triumphs over Portsmouth and Colchester United.
Stewart was pivotal in Notts’ tremendous form at the end of the 2011.12 season and helped Notts keep seven clean sheets in his 18 starts for the club.
Leacock feels that his latest defensive partner has already made a big difference at the back since signing on a short-term contract and is hoping that he can keep that up when County clash with Crawley Town at Meadow Lane this Saturday.
He told Magpie Player: “It’s been nice to play with Damion, he’s a cool guy and I get along with him off the pitch as well, which can only be a good thing.
“He’s come in with Championship experience and that can only help the team as a whole.
“He’s done really well and since he’s come in we’ve had two clean sheets and he’s played a massive part in that.
“Long may that continue and let’s hope we can keep another clean sheet on Saturday.”
