Curle: A Professional Performance

4 November 2012

Boss delighted to be in the second round draw...

Keith Curle was pleased with his team’s ‘professional performance’ at Fratton Park.

The Magpies dumped npower League 1 rivals Portsmouth out of the FA Cup with Budweiser on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win.

Francois Zoko gave Notts the lead during first half stoppage time, before Yoann Arquin doubled the lead 11 minutes into the second half.

“It’s always nice to score before the break as it can slightly deflate them but sometimes it can have a negative effect on yourselves as well,” Curle told Magpie Player.

“If the players are going to try to defend that lead for 45 minutes, it can be dangerous.

“We made sure that the players went out with the message that we can get another goal and then play from our shape, and I thought we did that.

“We looked to catch them on the break but we did our job defensively.

“To go there and keep a clean sheet is very pleasing.”
