Steady Progression

24 July 2012

Half time alterations expected again for the trip to Alfreton...

Notts County players can each expect to play another 45 minutes in this Wednesday’s friendly with Alfreton Town.

The Magpies fielded different line-ups either side of the break in Saturday’s pre-season opener with Buxton, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

First team manager Keith Curle is looking to build up his team’s match fitness in stages for the best possible results.

“Pre-season’s about being progressive in our fitness levels as well so gradually we’ll find that a body of people will get more and more games,” Curle told Magpie Player.

“With the first game it’s important that everyone gets 45 minutes as a starting point.

“On Wednesday it’ll be the same sort of thing with 45 minutes again but with a different rotation in the players.

“Hopefully then by the end of pre-season we’re progressing nicely to where we want to be.

"The first game of the season players will not be fully match fit.

“That probably comes two or three months into the season when we’ve had a bank of games and we’re up to full speed, playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday.

“But now we’re being progressive and everybody’s at the same level of fitness.”

Wednesday night's friendly will kick-off at 7.30pm. For full ticket information, click here.
