Coach looks ahead to the Buxton friendly...
The backroom staff have been impressed by the squad’s work rate during the first two weeks of pre-season, says coach Colin West.
Notts have been building up to this weekend’s double-header, which sees friendlies with both Buxton and Ilkeston FC.
First team manager Keith Curle will take charge of the Buxton game, while development squad manager Chris Kiwomya will head up a Notts County XI against Ilkeston.
West will be travelling to The Silverlands for the Buxton match and is eager to see the players put their preparations into practice from the first whistle.
He told Magpie Player: “The lads have trained extremely hard and they’ve worked extremely well for each other.
“They’ve been trying to take on all the things that we’ve been doing in training.
“We’re trying to get everything into them and getting them to recognise that in a big game situation.
“Even when we’ve been doing little functional stuff in little small-sided games, which have only really started this week, we’ve still emphasised what it means in the big picture.
“We need to keep the ball a little bit better so we obviously want the Buxton lads to be working hard.
“We want to make the pitch big so that we can then extend our play a little bit and make them work.
“We want the lads to be confident on the ball and relaxed.”
